OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort is the current name of the former Zeavola Resort on Laem Tong Beach. The new identity is important when comparing photographs, room labels and guest comments: an old Zeavola description should not automatically be treated as the present resort. OUTRIGGER announced the opening of the transformed property in May 2026, with boat access remaining central to the stay.

A new resort identity on an established beach

The official opening announcement describes 63 suites and villas and specifically names Hilltop Ocean View Pool Villas, Beachfront Pool Villas and Family Garden Villas. These are not interchangeable positions. A beach-level villa and an elevated pool villa offer different relationships with the sand, while a garden choice prioritises its leafy setting rather than a guaranteed open sea view.

The current main site also groups accommodation into oceanfront, ocean-view and garden offers. That is a better starting point than relying only on the older Zeavola name still found in some booking listings. The property is the same location, but the room category, brand description and evidence period should all be read together.

Boat access shapes the whole visit

The official resort transfer information advertises shared speedboat transfers between Royal Phuket Marina and the property. That is a specific arranged service, not a promise that an independently purchased ferry ticket includes the same final connection. The opening announcement describes the resort as accessible only by boat and treats Tonsai Village as a separate boat outing.

For a trip focused on the northern beach, that separation can be appealing. For a traveller wanting repeated evenings in Tonsai, it is a practical cost in effort and coordination. Laem Tong should be chosen because its setting fits the holiday, rather than because the map places it on the same island as the main village.

Recent guests describe both the setting and its compromises

A September 2026 Trip.com guest in a Superior Garden twin room described the hotel as new and liked the sea at high tide. The same guest reported a hot restaurant and flies during meals. Another guest, staying in a Superior Garden king room in August, praised service and room comfort but was disappointed by the handling of a weather-delayed journey.

These are individual accounts of different stays, not a general verdict on every restaurant service or transfer. They do show why the new resort’s appearance and its day-to-day operation are separate considerations. A clean, comfortable room does not by itself answer questions about dining comfort or what happens if weather changes an arrival.

Room privacy does not require staying apart from everything

The resort’s current soft-opening notice deserves attention before its wider facilities list. It says selected villas, Mala Kitchen, the Dive Centre and Zeavola Spa are still receiving finishing touches. Those venues should not be assumed fully available simply because their descriptions appear elsewhere on the same site. Edgewater Bar & Grill, the beachfront pool, a wellness zone and in-villa spa treatments are presented as alternatives during this opening phase.

A September 2026 Deluxe Garden Villa guest reported a clean room and fine-sand paths through the grounds. Sand underfoot is part of the particular setting; it is not evidence of a paved, step-free route for everyone. The most useful choice is between a garden retreat, direct beachfront position and a higher pool-villa view, with the journey and the actual room layout given equal weight.

The wellness zone itself is described with a gym, fitness pool and open-air yoga sala, while the Coral Kids Club gives families a separate activity setting to investigate. These are distinct from a private pool in the booked villa or a guaranteed programme for every age. A family choosing the resort for that club, or a diver relying on the on-site centre, needs the actual available service to match the holiday rather than relying on the transformed resort’s full promotional inventory.
