Phi Phi Banyan Villa puts a garden-and-pool setting close to the Tonsai waterfront rather than on a remote bay. That combination is the attraction: the official hotel describes a central position, a fitness centre and a seafood restaurant opposite, while the bedrooms are organised into Garden and Banyan wings. Guest accounts suggest the wing and room condition deserve attention alongside the convenient address.

Two wings, without a promise that every room feels the same

The official room selection distinguishes Garden Wing accommodation from the Banyan Wing’s wood-focused character. Garden rooms are described with terraces overlooking the planting; the Banyan description emphasises its traditional decorative style. These are more useful details than assuming every room is a new, modern suite merely because the booking photographs include a garden and swimming pool.

The name “villa” can also mislead if it is taken to mean a detached private-pool house. The hotel presents room wings and a shared pool. A traveller wanting a completely self-contained villa should therefore compare the actual offered accommodation with that requirement, rather than relying on the property name as a description of every room.

The Garden Wing room page offers both double and twin bedding and places the shared pool nearby. It also lists a room safe and tea-and-coffee facilities. For two friends travelling together, that bedding choice is more immediately useful than the antique styling of the alternative wing. It also reinforces that the garden terrace is a bedroom feature within a shared hotel setting, rather than a separate residence with its own pool.

A repeat guest liked the stay, but noticed the age

An August 2026 Trip.com guest in a Banyan Wing double room enjoyed returning and described staff assistance on arrival and departure. They upgraded to a newer section and liked the clean, comfortable room and pool, but still noted aged bathroom fittings and a toilet-flush issue that was not repaired during the stay. The positive judgement and the maintenance complaint belong to the same account.

A separate February 2026 Banyan Wing guest reported noisy wooden floors and hearing nearby rooms, while another guest that month liked the wooden interiors and found the hotel quiet at night. Those different experiences are a reason to distinguish room-specific sound transmission from a general claim that the entire property is either silent or noisy. Room position and neighbouring occupancy can matter even in a garden setting.

Eating by the shore is separate from the bedroom outlook

The official site identifies Tonsai Seafood Restaurant opposite the hotel, with views over Tonsai Bay. It also lists the fitness centre and pool as shared facilities. This explains how breakfast or a meal can feel distinctly waterfront without every bedroom having a sea-facing balcony. The garden is part of the accommodation’s identity, not simply a foreground to a guaranteed ocean view.

Being near the central village is useful for independent restaurant choices and meeting a boat departure, especially on a short Phi Phi stay. The hotel’s location description places it near the pier, but a published walking estimate is not a luggage-handling or accessibility guarantee. This is still a pedestrian island arrival rather than a road transfer to a hotel entrance.

A practical base with a traditional room character

For travellers spending their days on the island or on boat outings, Banyan Villa offers a different balance from a northern beach resort. It keeps more of the village within the immediate stay while retaining planting, a pool and a defined fitness facility. It is not necessary to choose an outlying coast just to avoid staying above a busy shopfront.

The compromise is that central convenience does not erase the condition and sound issues reported in particular rooms. The strongest reason to choose Banyan Villa is its combination of location and shared facilities. The strongest reason to choose a different room category or property is a need for consistently newer interiors, greater separation from neighbours or a private-villa layout that this hotel’s name alone does not establish.
