Beachside rooms differ substantially in size and outlook

The official rooms-and-suites catalogue places these categories in the Beachside Estate. A Deluxe Room is listed at 48 square metres with a garden view, while a Bayfront Deluxe Room is listed at 70 square metres with an ocean outlook and balcony. The difference involves both space and orientation; an entry-level room is not simply the bayfront category under another name.

The same catalogue lists larger pavilion suites, including one- and two-bedroom arrangements. Separate bedrooms can be more important to a family than moving to an elevated villa for its view. The actual layout should therefore lead the choice: a garden-oriented suite can provide separation and shared space without making a hilltop setting the main feature of the booking.

The one-bedroom Garden View Pavilion Suite is listed at 150 square metres, whereas the One Bedroom Beachside Pavilion Suite is 110 square metres and faces the beach. Both are listed for up to three guests with king bedding. This is a particularly useful comparison because more floor area and the closer beach position point in different directions: the larger garden suite is not automatically the room with the most direct shore relationship.

Hillside villas bring a different pool decision

Pimalai’s villa descriptions position its Hillside Oceanview Private Pool Villas above the sea, in tropical greenery. The resort explicitly cautions that those pools are unfenced and not suitable for children below 12. That is a category-specific warning, not a general statement that the entire resort excludes younger children.

The beachside villa offer is different again: one listed one-bedroom category shares a pool with neighbouring accommodation, whereas other beachside villas have private pools. A photograph of water beside a villa therefore does not settle whether the booked pool is private. The distinction between shared, private, beachside and hillside is one of the most consequential comparisons in Pimalai’s inventory.

The airport connection is an arranged service

The official transfer page offers complimentary roundtrip transfers from Krabi Airport for hotel guests and requests arrival and departure details. It separately describes other mainland pickups and alternative Phuket connections. Those are different arrangements rather than a single free transfer from anywhere in southern Thailand.

The resort also explains that adverse weather can cause a boat transfer to be replaced by a car or van route using the car ferry to Koh Lanta. This is especially useful context for travellers attracted by photographs of a boat arrival: the accommodation booking does not guarantee that the crossing will use the same mode in every set of sea conditions.

Guest enthusiasm needs the estate and stay period attached

An April 2026 Trip.com guest praised a relaxing stay surrounded by nature, while another account from April 2025 specifically discussed a Bayfront Suite and the need to follow the resort’s airport departure arrangement. That earlier guest also reported a different breakfast-venue choice from a previous stay. Their observation should not be treated as the current breakfast entitlement of every room category.

Pimalai is most persuasive as a place to spend time on Koh Lanta, using its setting and facilities rather than repeatedly rushing between distant departures. The Beachside Estate can suit a guest prioritising the shore and shared facilities; the hillside villas make more sense when elevation and a private pool are deliberate priorities. For a Ko Rok excursion, the resort remains the overnight base on Lanta, with the boat outing a separate weather- and access-dependent activity.
